2011 BB&T Lighthouse Project chooses Manna Meal - Manna Meal - so the hungry can eat

Each department that participates in the Lighthouse Project submits a report to the corporate office for review.  In 2011 from April – June over 1100 community projects were completed nationwide in the different regions of BB&T offices. Initially the Wealth Management department’s submission was elevated to the top 18 in the country.  The corporate office then reviewed the top 18 to choose the top 5 Lighthouse Projects to be awarded the Spirit Award.  The Spirit Award is given based on the number of people served and the project itself.  The thing that stood out the most with the project was the amount of personal time the team put into the project and that the group almost had 100% participation (2 team members were out of town).  It was impressive that personal time and energy had been given in addition to the financial donation of $2000 worth of supplies and software.  On July 25, 2011, Jean and Rhondell were presented with a check to Manna Meal for $5000 from Doug Reed, Laura Ellis and Sarah Wilkinson for our group project being chosen in the top 5.

The second department that chose to donate to Manna Meal was Commercial Lending.  This group included employees from different areas of BB&T.  We received a large food donation and office supplies as part of the $2000 they spent on Manna Meal for their 2011 Lighthouse Project.
